![]() The concept of 'Adopt-a-Girl' is aimed at enriching the girl's life, not just from a financial point of view, but in personal development as well. She will feel special and cared for by being 'adopted' by you or your organisation for a couple of hours, a day, a weekend, over a school holiday or longer. As part of the 'adoption', you could help towards covering her school fees, educational trips, hobbies etc. You could also provide a girl with a birthday gift - please see a list of our girls' birthays below. The 'adoption' could also take the form of acting as hosts for Cell C's "Take a Girl Child to Work Day" campaign in May. This exposes them to different career options, inspires them to be future leaders and encourages them to work towards having a successful career. National Women's Day on the 9 August offers another opportunity at acting as a host and enabling a girl to participate in a first aid course or outdoor activity such as hiking, sports, picnics etc. We are currently looking for sponsors and hosts for extra-mural activities and lessons such as music, dancing, beadwork, sewing, shoemaking, crotchet etc. which could be supervised by home mothers. If you or your company would like to find out more about our 'adoption' programmes, or if you have any suggestions, please contact: Patricia Nkwanyana
